Toxic Food #1 SUGAR
In our opinion, sugar is the most destructive “nutrient” out there. When I say sugar I don’t just mean table sugar. The reality is most of your sugar intake comes from “hidden” sources such as pre-packaged, processed foods.
In fact, sugar is added to a variety of foods ranging from meat to ketchup. The sugar used in these processed foods is refined. Refining sugar is a multi-step process that takes up to 60 different chemicals to complete. These chemicals not only strip the sugar of its natural color, texture and flavor they also remove minerals and vitamins such as chromium.

Why is this important to you?
Chromium is necessary for your body to remove the sugar from your blood and into your cells. Removing chromium from sugar makes it that much harder for your body to regulate your blood sugar. This is one of the reasons why refined sugar causes a rapid spike and then crash in blood sugar levels. In general, consuming refined sources of sugar like cookies, sweets, cakes, cereals, pastas and breads wreaks havoc on your blood sugar and insulin levels. Because these foods have been stripped of their nutrients and fiber they are broken down quickly in the body. This causes a fast spike in blood sugar. High blood sugar levels can harm your organs and tissues so the body will do whatever it takes to bring your blood sugar down as quickly as possible. It does this through insulin. Insulin’s job is to take the excess sugar out of the blood stream and put it into storage in the muscle, liver, or fat cells. |
Well, your liver and muscle only have a small amount of room for storage while your fat cells have an infinite amount of storage. Once the liver and muscle cells are full (which happens rather quickly) everything else gets stored as FAT!
Also, when you have a huge influx of sugar dumped into the blood as you do with processed foods the body will respond by releasing a huge amount of insulin.
This is not a good thing because the huge amount of insulin doesn’t bring your blood sugar down to normal levels it actually brings it down to below normal. This is what many people refer to as a sugar “crash.”
This is HORRIBLE for weight loss because it increases hunger. When your blood sugar “crashes” below normal levels you will reach for high sugar foods like cookies, cakes, and sweets.
Why? Because your body wants to get you blood sugar back up as quickly as possible. What breaks down faster in the body than processed foods and sugar? That’s right nothing!
Then the vicious cycle continues. Sadly, the end result is you packing on the pounds!
Sugar also causes the environment inside your body to become acidic disturbing the acid/alkaline balance that is imperative for good health and weight loss.
An over acidic environment can damage your precious organs and delicate tissues. For this reason, your body will pull the acid away from your vital organs and put it into storage.
Do you know where that storage is? Your fat cells! Fat cells are where your body stores excess energy (calories) and toxicity!
